It's been a minute..

It's been a while since my last post. That's because I have been using most of my spare time to design my mom's website. I finally downloaded an ftp and retrieved the files from the original site. Then I decided I wanted to change it. I still have a ways to go, but at least I have it up and running. You can check it out here: Depth Perceptions . Comments and suggestions are always welcome. I'm thinking about changing the navbar, the starfish just aren't doing anything for me. Funny how fast the time flies when I am working on a site. I will look up and 3 hours will have passed by!

Anyway, my friend Kat is coming to visit on Friday. I am so excited! She has been gone for months now and we used to see each other every day! She was my faithful sidekick. We ate lunch together and talked about everything. Our friendship has now been reduced to emails and the occasional phone call. I miss her bunches and we are going to have some FUN! Friday we are going to BW3's and eat buffalo wings, onion rings and have some drinks, play pool, darts and video trivia. I'm thinking on Saturday we might go for a drive to Brown County, where they have alot of great little shops or maybe out to Raccoon Lake, hike and have a picnic. I guess the weather is going to play a factor. We won't get much hiking or picnicing done in the rain. Either way, I am looking forward to seeing her and can't wait for her to get here! Hurry, Kat, Hurry!

Dreamcruise 2005

We got to Michigan around 4pm on Friday. Already there were people "cruising" and lining the streets. Woodward Avenue was packed! We heard it had been going on since Tuesday. Friday was beautiful and Suz's dad took us out in his 1930 Ford Model A. We cruised the strip for about an hour then headed back to the house. Me and Suz decided to take Hayden for a walk down the strip. Practically every other person had to stop and pet him. You would think people have never seen a puppy! We pretty much just chilled out that night, had some dinner and got some rest for the next day.

Saturday morning we wake up to Thunderstorms and Rain!!! The night before they said 30% chance. Suz and I drove to Royal Oak and went shopping in a bunch of cool stores. We went to the farmers market and bought some fresh fruits and vegetables. I wish we had a market like that! So much to choose from and great prices! They have some really cool shops in Royal Oak. We went to the Gay/Lesbian store, but mostly it was filled with stuff for men. Suz wouldn't let me get a decal for my car. She say's that would only provoke people to key it. So we didn't buy anything there. Then we went to Funky 7, where bought Suz a few shirts and a belt buckle. I got myself some incense too. We shopped a few more stores, but they were very expensive! Then we headed back to the house and helped get dinner ready.

We had a great dinner of Italian Sandwiches, pesto pasta salad, cheese w/ truffle honey and crackers, asparagus and fresh fruit. After dinner we packed we cruised the stip and I took as many pics as I could. But it was getting dark fast. We had a Great time even though they closed Woodward at 9pm this year! I will try to get some pics up soon!

Sorry to cut this short, I'm on my lunchbreak and time is up!!

Update

Supercross the Movie was Great! I absolutley loved it and recommend it. It might have been a little cheesy, but I liked the story line and I think they did a good job on the movie. If you like SX, I say go see it!!

This weekend is the Dream Cruise in Michigan. We leave tomorrow morning and drive about 5 hours to Burmingham, MI. Suzy's parents live one block from Woodward Ave. where everyone "cruises" and that's where we will be staying. I have to sleep on the floor on an air mattress, but at least I get to be in the same room!! I'm sure her parents know about us, but it is never spoken of. I am debating whether or not to leave my ring at home. If they question me about it, I don't want to say something that might "offend" them. So it's best not to rub it in their face. (?)

Last year I took my camera and it somehow turned on inside the camera bag. By the time I took it out to take some pics, the battery was dead!! This year, I am bringing the charger. Hopefully I will be able to snap some goods pics to share!

I got my new computer yesterday and right now I am posting on my lunch break with my wireless connection. This is so cool! If I can pick up a signal in MI, I will try to post, otherwise it might be awhile before you hear from me.

Indiana State Fair

We got a late start to the Fair on Saturday night. It took about 30 minutes to get in the fairgrounds and all the shortcuts were blocked off! We finally got inside around 8:30pm. First stop: Corn on the Cob. I wasn't too impressed. It was supposed to be Sweet corn, but it wasn't very sweet and it tasted a bit bland, even with the addition of pepper. Second stop: Corn dog, which we shared. It was absolutely delicious! I wish we would have got the foot long! But we wanted to pace ourselves. Third stop: Deep Fried Combo Basket which included (1) Snicker Bar, (2) Oreo's & (1) Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. We each ate an Oreo, then went for the Snicker Bar, which was by far our most Favorite and we wished we would have each just got our own! Then we shared the PB Cup. We found it to be a bit dry and not up to par. Fourth Stop: Deep fried Mozzerella Sticks - DELICIOUS! We ate what we could, about 2 each, wiped the grease from our hands and tossed the rest.

We decided to take a breather after that and head over to the games. I told myself this year we weren't going to go crazy on the games. But we did. By the end of the night I was holding 3 large animals and 2 small ones. The first win was on the bowling, where you have to get the ball to stay in the middle and not come back over the hump. Suz loves that game and after trading up 12 times, we got 2nd largest animal. I choose that dog from Family Guy. Next she shot some hoops and missed all 5 times. Then she played the waterguns and lost. After that was the toss the balls into the fish bowls. After 50 balls, we got 1 fish. That fish didn't have a very long life, we put it in our aquarium and the Tin Foil(s) ate it! Then we played Whack a Mole which is Suz's favorite. She won and then we played again and I won! That was 2 large animals!! Then we wasted our money on the frog toss and darts then called it a night.

On the way out we shared a Pineapple freeze and she bought me a Coconut Bongo. Which is this large coconut husk with a face and they fill it with a virgin Pina colada. That sucker was $9!!! I guess I should have asked before ordering! But I was happy and that's all that matters! LOL

All in all it was a short trip to the fair and we were back home by 11:30. We have 2 more free passes and may decide to go back for more greasy fair food this week!

Tonight we are going to see a sneak preview of Supercross the Movie. I will tell you if it's worth seeing tomorrow. I must have control. No popcorn, no sweets!!! We are supposed to get dinner first, so maybe I can have some willpower!!!

Friday

There hasn't been too much happening with me lately, hence the lack of posts. The most exciting thing I have to share is I ordered my new computer. My stepdad bought it for me out of the kindness of his heart. After I vented to him about how badly I want/need a new computer. And how my current home computer does not support my Macromedia program. I really want to start designing websites in my spare time. I know, by the looks of this blog nobody could ever tell that I actually design and maintain 2 websites for work and also one for my mom. I don't do much with this blog and as it is, I post at work, which is a total no no. I think this will change once I get my new computer. I am going Wireless for the first time and I am so excited about it!

My stepdad let me get whatever I wanted, which was a costly mistake for him! I'm thinking I should have went with the 2Ghz processor, but I got 1.6 Ghz and 1Gb Memory, 80Gb Hard drive, Ultra sharp 15.4" display, 8x CD/DVD Burner, Windows XP Media Center with TV Tuner (with is basically Tivo, I can watch TV on my laptop), Wireless Network Card w/ Bluetooth, Netgear Firewall Wireless Router, 512MB Memory Key, Microsoft Works, Jukebox and 3 years of Symantic Anti-Virus. That's alot of shit! It better last me a LONG time!

I feel like a total geek. The highlight of my week, a new laptop! Woohoo! The Indiana State Fair is going on this week too! I think we are going on Tuesday or Wednesday and we are planning on eating everything we aren't supposed to. Deep Fried Twinkies, Oreos, Corn Dogs, Corn, Ice Cream and as much as our tummy's can handle before we get sick!

Weekend

Even though I was a little under the weather, the weekend turned out to be alot of fun! Friday night we went to dinner with some friends and rode around downtown. It was absolutley crazy because it was the Brickyard 400 weekend. People were everywhere, bikes were everywhere. We rode the circle, which I could have done without, it was a huge mess of people, bikes and cars. We all made it out alive and headed south for a nice little ride. It sure felt great to ride and we had a pretty nice group of people. We rode until midnight and I was exhausted by the time I got home and went to bed.

Saturday I got my oil changed and met my brothers new girlfriend. She is so sweet and really beautiful. I am so happy he finally found someone! I really hope it works out. He just moved into a new duplex, so I went and bought him some housewarming goodies and then cleaned his apartment. It took me a few hours, but he was so happy and appreciative, it was worth it! That night I took Suz out for dinner then we went on our usual late not shopping adventure. We love grocery shopping at night. It beats getting up early Sunday morning to beat the rush!

Sunday we slept in late and I made us bacon & eggs for breakfast. That was a mistake. My stomach was upset all day from that bacon! I haven't had it in months, and South Beach diet says you can eat it sparingly. So I thought it would be a nice treat. It wasn't and I won't be making it again. Sunday evening I grilled Steaks and steamed Artichokes for dinner. Our favorite dinner of the week! Then we went to Rascals Fun Zone for one of her co-workers going away party and drove go karts, played video games and putt putt all night long. It was really fun! We decided to take our bikes there too. It was a beautiful evening and even though we missed our Season Finale of Queer as Folk, we know we can catch it On Demand!

All in all, it was a great weekend and I'm feeling back to my normal self again!

A Present for Me?

I wasn't feeling very good yesterday. I decided to go home a little early from work and get some rest. By the time I woke up, Suz was just getting home from work. She comes prancing in the room telling me to get up and get my present. Present? I popped out of bed and went to the living room. There on the table was a Shoei Box.

Let me go back a few days. On Sunday we went to her work and I tried on several helmets. I have a funky shaped head and very few helmets fit me. She was getting frustrated with me, because every time I tried one on it was either too small or too big. We finally found the TZR. They only had a Medium in stock and it was just a little big. My Arai is a Quantum/f and is a size Large! I was in disbelief that I was a size Small in Shoei. So I was very suprised that she took the risk and ordered that helmet in for me.

So I opened the box and this is what she bought me. (see picture below) I was so excited! All of a sudden I started feeling a little better. We decided to cheat on our diet and have some take out Chinese for dinner and every since I have been feeling back to normal.

The change of one simple behavior can affect other behaviors and thus change many things

Our behavior tells others and ourselves who we are. Frequently, we find ourselves behaving in ways that keep us stuck or embarrass us. Or we may feel deep shame for our behavior in a certain instance. Our behavior will never totally please us. But deciding we want to change some behavior is a first step.

Remember, imperfections are human and very acceptable. However, changing a particular behavior, maybe deciding to take a walk every morning rather than sleeping 30 extra minutes, will change how we feel about ourselves. And a minor change such as this can have a remarkable effect on our outlook, our attitudes.

The dilemma for many of us for so long was the fear we couldn't change. But we can. And we can help each other change, too.

One small change today - a smile at the first person I meet - meditation before dinner - a few minutes of exercise - will help me chart a new course. I will encourage another woman to join me in this effort too, and I will be on my way.
